Getting Around Singapore

I tend to just use the MRT – Underground Train System. You can get basically anywhere using this system you just need to know which stops to get off at.

Purchase an EZ Link Card – $12, this gets you the card ($5) and leaves $7 worth of credit on the card to start travelling. Top it up and reuse it again and again. Dont know what took me so long to get one of these, but seriously best investment!

See a list below of stations to get off at to be the closest to major tourist spots.

Orchard Road

Bugis Street Markets
Haji Lane
Masjid Sultan Mosque
Kampong Glam
Arab Street

Marina Bay Sands
Helix Bridge

Best View of Marina Bay Sands
Best Currency Exchangers
Lau Pa Sat Hawkers Food Hall & Satay Street

Singapore Botanic Gardens – just don’t be fooled like we were by the signs for “Orchard” this DOES NOT lead you to Orchard Road. Way better off walking around, and then going back to this train station to get anywhere else.

Places to Eat & Drink

A covered hawkers centre in the heart of Singapore offering an abundant choice of inexpensive local hawker food.
This is the place to go if you can’t decide what to have for dinner or have “fussy diners” in your group. There is something for everyone.
Try all the local dishes and just sit and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere.

Opening Hours: 24 hours
Location: On the corner of Boon Tat Street and Robinson Road, not far from the Raffles Place MRT station.
MRT: Raffles Place follow the signs for “Lau Pa Sat”

As the Sun goes down and the city lights up , from 7pm every night Satay Street Appears.
Located out the back of Lau Pa Sat, you will know you have arrived by the aroma of smokey bbq pouring through the place.
Each stall owner fights to provide you the very BEST satay you will try! Offering Pork, Beef, Chicken,Lamb & even offering to shell prawns for you – decision making is hard!
At just a small price of 70c a stick, its extremely affordable so why not try them all!

Authentic Singapore at its finest.

Strolling along the waterfront back from the Helix Bridge one evening I stumbled across this amazing treat! And after visiting Sentosa on the weekend , I have found they too have these delicious treats.Refreshing coconut ice cream with a variety of toppings, from peanut shavings to sticky rice and red ruby, served in a coconut husk! And to top it off, a FREE coconut water is served to complete the experience!
Enjoy your coconut goodness against the amazing view of the Waterfront or take it down and stroll along Siloso Beach in Sentosa.

Craving Acai one layover in Singapore, I did some research . And lucky for me I came across this gem, currently sitting at “THE BEST ACAI I HAVE EVER HAD!!”
Project Acai is located in the basement level of Takashimaya Mall on Orchard Road.
Take the MRT to Orchard, then either take the underpass towards Ngee Ann City, or come up to ground level and head towards “TAKASHIMAYA”
They offer a range of different bowls, sizes and smoothies. My favourite would have to be the Original Flower Bowl, or for a dessert type option try the Nuts for Acai !

For an abundance of options, head to Clarke Quay. You have loads of options of places to eat and drink.
The vibes are always pretty good down along the waterfront with music playing and daily specials , making Clarke Quay one of the places to be!
