Ho Chi Minh City, AKA Saigon – A Chaotic High Octane City of Vietnam. You can’t help but be taken along on the ride!
A guide below of some of my top things to do, places to eat/drink, how to get around !
TOP THINGS TO DO IN HO CHI MINH CITY
War Remnants Museum
A very sombre place to visit – but personally I feel it truly is something important that everyone visits this Museum to really understand the inhumane and cruel torture of our world’s history . Hopefully opening peoples eyes to never be a part of anything like this ever and again and truly appreciate the world we have today.
Check out my post on The War Remnants Museum for more pictures and information on my personal experience visiting.
Notre Dam Cathedral
A Visit to Notre Dam Cathedral should be on your bucket list – after being to Notre Dam in Paris as well I had to tick this one off! Located centrally in the city ( and literally across the road from our hotel ) – a very easy sight to tick off in Ho Chi Minh City. I spent a day sightseeing and visiting Notre Dam only took about 30minutes to visit – go early when it first opens to avoid the crowds!
A Building deeply associated with the fall of the city. Another piece of history that I feel any visitor to Vietnam should experience to really appreciate the country as it is today. So many people lost their lives during the war, and history stands still in this eerie palace with deserted halls preserving what once was.

Ben Thanh Markets
Located in District 1 – Ben Thanh is a great place to buy local handicrafts, Vietnamese Art, Branded Items, Clothing etc! Be prepared to bargain with the stall owners, and remember that most stalls have the same/similar items so you may be able to barter to a lower price with different stalls! I got some great bargains when I visited and it is a place I MUST visit on every trip to Ho Chi Minh City – put your walking shoes on, get those energy levels up and brace yourself when you enter the mayhem~ So Much FUN!
Get a Taxi to the Markets (its extremely popular so all the taxi drivers know it ), or if you are comfortable navigating – its fun to walk the streets and attempt crossing these mega busy roads! Its all part of the experience!
Opening Hours: Daily 6:00 –24:00

Vietnam Cookery Center
One of the BEST things I have done in Vietnam so far was this course! We booked online, and chose the 8.30am course with Market Visit. The day started at Ben Thanh Markets, exploring all the local fresh produce! This was so amazing, and so cool to learn about all the different foods that are ‘everyday life’ to the locals!
After the Markets, we took a taxi to the Cookery School.
We did the “THURSDAY” menu – as this was the day we were doing it.
We learnt so much on this day and made the following dishes:
Banana Flower Salad with Pork & Shrimps ** My favourite dish ~! Excited to try make this at home!
Sautéed Chicken with Lemongrass & Chilli
Vietnamese Pancake with mung bean, pork & prawn.
Steamed Rice with coconut juice
Coconut Agar Agar
And all the dipping sauces etc to go with it all <3
