Fremantle aka “Freo”

Just 30 minutes from Perth, the bustling, dynamic port city of Fremantle has long been renowned for its mix of arty and alternative types.

Fremantle’s streets buzz with the song of buskers, the side walks fill with a wild collection of art and music floats out from trendy cafés and bars. If you decide to spend a night or two you have an excellent selection of accommodation options ranging from friendly backpackers to luxurious hotels.

Getting There & Around

Getting to Fremantle from Perth is both affordable and easy!
A train will cost you only $4AUD each way.

From Perth Station to Fremantle Station will take roughly 30 Minutes/8 Stops on the Fremantle Line.

Once you get there, Fremantle is one of the easiest cities to explore by foot or bike. All major attractions are located within walking distance of the Fremantle Train Station. The free Fremantle CAT bus completes regular circuits around the city stopping at popular places of interest and offering easy access to main attractions and venues.

An alternative way to get around is to take the Fremantle Tram Tour. This completes regular circuits of the city with educational commentary or hire a bike from the Fremantle Visitor Centre!

And don’t miss the weekend markets if you happen to be visiting on a weekend.

Recommended Places to Eat & Drink

A trip to Fremantle is not complete without having a craft beer at Little Creatures Brewery, followed by Fish & Chips at the Fishing Boat Harbour!

Little Creatures Brewery – Grab a Craft Beer & one of the most incredible pizzas , then just sit back, relax and enjoy the hoppy, brewery atmosphere!

Bathers Beach House – Perth’s only absolute beachfront restaurant & bar. Just a mere few steps from the beautiful white sand of Bathers Beach in Fremantle.

Cicerello’s – A Seafood Restaurant on the water at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour is the best known and best loved fish and chip shop in Australia, some say the world. For more than 90 years, the name has meant good fish and chips in a great location – and seriously this place is one of the BEST!
Some of the very freshest Fish & Chips I have ever eaten, and is in the perfect spot! Just beware of the seagulls if you choose to sit outside like we did 😉
