- When you arrive at Nara Station go upstairs, once out on the main street follow the signs towards Todaji Temple, you will them come across Nara Park on your Right ( you can’t miss it – Deer everywhere )
Nara – home to hundreds of freely roaming deer .
The Deer Park is free to enter, and you can buy crackers to feed the deer from one of the many stall operators dotted around the park for a small 150yen.
Okay , First things First – Heres the honest truth from my experience!
Everyone wants to go to Nara to see the “cute little deer” .
I too was one of these people…. Until I paid the 150yen and brought the crackers for the deer.
Initially things were going well, loads of deer everywhere following anybody around that was feeding them. This is all good and well for getting that “insta snap” however, once you have run out of crackers they still continue to follow you! It becomes a bit daunting when you are amongst a group of these animals all bunting you and wanting more!
Look I get it … Its a “must do” tick it off the list activity.
Paige and I have been, but I know we wont be rushing back anytime soon thats for sure.
